Rock stars can get paid very well, BUT they only get paid each time they perform.  It is the SONGWRITERS who get paid #ResidualIncome EVERY time their song is played.  Heck, even after a songwriter dies, their family CONTINUES GETTING PAID!!! Think of it this way, if you were a plumber, how would you like to get paid a DIME for EVERY time someone flushes a toilet you installed, whether you're around or not.  Unfortunately for plumbers, they don't get paid that way.
